Unemployment remains a pressing issue that must be urgently addressed. Despite the significant economic growth demonstrated in East Java (Jatim). This should be a reflection for all of us in East Java as we continue to pursue the ideals of independence.

This statement was made by Deputy Chairman of the East Java DPRD Deni Wicaksono in response to the commemoration of Indonesia's 80th Independence.

Deni emphasized that economic development should not be measured solely by growth figures but must also have a tangible impact on the welfare of the people.

“Our economic growth is indeed something to be grateful for, but there remains a serious challenge—unemployment. The provincial government, together with all stakeholders, must ensure that the programs implemented truly reach the people, create job opportunities, and raise the standard of living of our society,” said Deni on Monday (August 18, 2025).

According to the advisor to the PDI-P faction in the East Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), collaboration between the provincial government, regencies/cities, the business sector, and civil society is crucial to ensure equitable development.

Deny emphasized that the spirit of mutual cooperation must continue to be strengthened amid the dynamics of national and state life.

“The 80th Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence serves as a reminder that freedom must be filled with collective work. Gotong royong (mutual cooperation) is the social capital of our nation, and East Java must stand as an example of how collaboration can bring about justice and prosperity for all people,” he added.

According to Deny, the East Java DPRD is fully prepared to support various regional government programs aimed at strengthening the economy while simultaneously reducing unemployment.

As a member of the DPRD representing the electoral districts of Magetan, Ngawi, Ponorogo, Pacitan, and Trenggalek, he expressed his hope that the spirit of independence will serve as shared energy in realizing a more advanced East Java with prosperous citizens.

“There remain many unfinished tasks that we must complete together, in the form of programs and budgetary support,” he concluded.
