The East Java DPRD Emphasizes Professionalism in Free Homecoming Program and Transportation Services
SURABAYA - Ahead of the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri/2026 homecoming season, Member of Commission D of the East Java DPRD, dr. Agung Mulyono, highlighted the importance of infrastructure and transportation service readiness to ensure smooth travel for the public across East Java.
He urged the East Java Provincial Transportation Agency to prepare for the 2026 Eid homecoming in a professional manner, including in the implementation of the free homecoming program aimed at reducing accident risks.
"We expect the Transportation Agency to manage this program professionally, as free homecoming initiatives are intended to help reduce accident risks,” said Dr. Agung on Thursday (March 12, 2026).
According to him, the 2026 free homecoming program is also expected to assist the public in returning to their hometowns and reduce the burden of travel costs. He also encouraged easier registration through an online system.
3S Concept and Road Improvements as Key Priorities
Dr. Agung emphasized the importance of implementing the 3S concept in organizing the homecoming, namely: successful preparation, successful implementation, and successful post-event activities, ensuring travelers arrive safely.
"Returning to the 3S concept: successful preparation, successful implementation, and successful post-event activities, ensuring safe arrival at destinations,” he emphasized.
In addition, he highlighted road infrastructure conditions as a critical factor for traveler safety. The East Java Provincial Public Works Agency was urged to prioritize preventive actions, not just corrective action.
“Damaged or pothole-ridden roads must be repaired immediately. We should not wait for accidents to happen before taking action,” he stated.
The East Java DPRD Calls for Swift Response and Public Complaint Services
Dr. Agung also stated that he has been monitoring road conditions in his electoral district and coordinating with relevant stakeholders to ensure prompt repairs.
He further highlighted potential disruptions in fuel supply ahead of the homecoming period, including the impact of global geopolitical situation. Nevertheless, the East Java DPRD remains committed to ensuring optimal public services.
"As people's representatives, we will make every effort to ensure smooth homecoming travel and optimal public services,” he affirmed.
In addition, he encouraged the public to utilize available complaint services through various communication channels, including call centers of relevant agencies.
"The public should not hesitate to report any issues encountered during their journey, but should do so wisely and in the public interest,” he concluded.
