Comprehensive Infrastructure in Place, Rasiyo Highlights Readiness of Sekolah Rakyat in East Java

Member of Commission E of the East Java Regional House of Representatives, Rasiyo, stated that East Java is fully prepared to implement the Sekolah Rakyat, a program initiated by the central government.

"Everything is in place, and thirteen Sekolah Rakyat are scheduled to start operations this coming July," explained the Demokrat politician.

This man from Madiun stated that Sekolah Rakyat was established as a government effort to break the cycle of poverty through education.

This program is intended for children from families categorized as poor and extremely poor based on the National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN).

"Sekolah Rakyat is designed as a boarding school to ensure students receive optimal education and care. The facilities provided include dormitories for students and teachers as well as classrooms equipped with modern learning tools," explained the former Head of the East Java Education Department.

Rasiyo said that all the infrastructure is ready for Sekolah Rakyat.

"In fact, a few days ago, the principals who will be assigned to these Sekolah Rakyat have already attended a retreat training in Jakarta. They just need to be distributed to each school. In short, all are ready throughout East Java," he affirmed.

The East Java Provincial Government continues to accelerate efforts to realize the Sekolah Rakyat (SR) program in order to expand access to education.

A total of 19 Sekolah Rakyat (SR) are planned to begin operating in the new academic year 2025/2026, specifically in mid-July.

This year’s Sekolah Rakyat program will be implemented in two stages. The first stage will begin in mid-July 2025, coinciding with the start of the new academic year for formal schools. Meanwhile, the second stage is scheduled for September.

Of the 19 Sekolah Rakyat (SR) that will be opened, three are owned by the East Java Provincial Government and are 100 percent ready to welcome new students. These three schools are located in different areas and offer education levels ranging from junior high to senior high school.

First, the junior high level Sekolah Rakyat is managed by the Technical Implementation Unit for Child Protection and Social Services (UPT PPSPA) under the East Java Social Affairs Office in Batu City. There, three learning groups (rombel) are available for 75 students, and all quotas have been filled.

Second, the senior high school level Sekolah Rakyat is located at the East Java BPSDM Campus on Kawi Street, Malang City. Just like in Batu, this SR also has three learning groups with a total of 75 students, all of whom have been enrolled.

Third, the senior high school level Sekolah Rakyat is located within the Maritime Vocational High School (SMKN Maritim) in Lamongan. This school also accommodates three learning groups with the same number of students, totaling 75.
