Taking the Train from Bojonegoro, The East Java DPRD Member Budiono Promotes Fuel Efficiency Amid Budget Austerity
Vice Chair of Commission A of the Regional House of Representatives of the Province of East (The East Java DPRD), Budiono, has opted to travel by train from Bojonegoro to Surabaya as part of efforts to reduce fuel consumption and support energy efficiency amidst the government’s 2026 budget efficiency policy.
Budiono Sets an Example by Using Public Transportation for Official Duties
SURABAYA — Vice Chair of Commission A of the East Java DPRD, Budiono, chose to use public railway transportation for his commute from Bojonegoro to Surabaya as a practical measure to reduce fuel oil (BBM) consumption amid ongoing fiscal efficiency policies.
The statement was delivered during the Indrapura Discussion themed “Assessing the Performance of East Java DPRD Amid the 2026 Efficiency Measures”, held at the Deliberation Body (Banmus) meeting room of the East Java DPRD on Wednesday (29/04/2026).
“I now travel by train from Bojonegoro to the East Java DPRD. The fuel savings can reach up to 50 liters,” he stated.
According to the Gerindra Party politician, energy efficiency should not remain merely a policy discourse, but must also be reflected through daily practices, including the use of public transportation.
Amid fiscal pressures and regional budget efficiency measures, Budiono emphasized that energy conservation is a shared responsibility across all elements of government.
Budiono Praises the DPRD Secretariat’s Performance Despite WFH Implementation
Budiono also expressed appreciation for the East Java DPRD Secretariat (Setwan), which he believes has successfully maintained institutional performance despite the implementation of work-from-home (WFH) policies and budget efficiency measures.
“Our fiscal condition is not easy. However, what the Secretariat has done is appropriate. The spirit remains one of solidarity and maximum dedication,” he remarked.
He further explained that the East Java Regional Financial Agency (BKD) has been conducting routine evaluations of energy and fuel consumption within the East Java DPRD environment as part of a measurable efficiency strategy.
Meanwhile, Secretary of the East Java DPRD, Mohammad Ali Kuncoro, stressed that efficiency policies must not compromise the quality of public services.
“Efficiency is inevitable. However, public services must remain comprehensive and of high quality. If there are still complaints, it means we must continue improving,” he asserted.
The East Java DPRD Maintains Transparency Amid Budget Efficiency Policies
The discussion also featured East Java Information Commission Commissioner Solahudin, who presented the latest achievements in public information transparency across East Java.
In the latest monitoring and evaluation (monev) assessment, the East Java DPRD Secretariat successfully secured second place with the qualification of “Informative”.
Out of a total of 64 public institutions evaluated, only 18 institutions achieved the “Informative” category. This accomplishment positions the East Java DPRD as one of the institutions recognized for maintaining transparency and accountability amid ongoing fiscal efficiency pressures.
