Jairi Irawan: East Java as The New Gateway to the Archipelago, A Major Leap by the Governor

In her second term as Governor of East Java, Khofifah put forward a grand vision of East Java as the New Gateway to the Archipelago. The Deputy Chair of Commission E of the East Java Regional House of Representatives considers this a major leap by Governor Khofifah.

In her second term as Governor of East Java, Khofifah put forward a grand vision of East Java as the New Gateway to the Archipelago.The Deputy Chair of Commission E of the East Java Regional House of Representatives considers this a major leap by Governor Khofifah. 

This member of the Golkar Party faction in the East Java Regional House of Representatives believes that this significant leap cannot be carried out solely by the provincial government. It must be supported by all 38 local governments in East Java.

“As a spirit, the vision of East Java as the New Gateway to the Archipelago is very appropriate and relevant. However, it must involve all local governments across East Java to form a unified grand vision,” said Jairi on Sunday (March 16, 2025).

Previously, the online media Ayo Jatim, in collaboration with the Nahdliyin Journalists Forum (FJN), held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme East Java as The New Gateway to the Archipelago: Opportunities and Challenges.

The FGD explored the opportunities and challenges facing by East Java in becoming the New Gateway to the Archipelago. Three speakers had shared their perspectives on Governor Khofifah’s grand vision.

They were Jairi Irawan, Deputy Chair of Commission E in the East Java Regional House of Representatives from the Golkar Party faction. Irwan Setiawan, Chairman of the East Java Regional Executive Board of the Keadilan Sejahtera Party (PKS). Baihaki Sirajt, Executive Director of Accurate Research and Consulting Indonesia (ARCI).

The Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was led by Dr. Harliantara, Dean of the Faculty of Communication at Unitomo University and also the Chief Editor of the online media Ayo Jatim. As the moderator, the senior radio practitioner was able to make the discussion lively and engaging.
